Big Soft Sugar Cookies
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 cup sour cream

- 5 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1-1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda

Beat butter & sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time,
beating well after each addition. Add vanilla & sour cream.
Sift dry ingredients together & gradually add to butter/sugar
mixture. Chill 1-2 hours.
Roll out and use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes.
Bake 350° F for 8-10 minutes.

Butter Cream Frosting (for above sugar cookies)
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 lb. (about 4 cups) sifted confectioners' sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk or water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cream shortening and butter together; add sugar, water,
and vanilla. Blend on medium speed until all
ingredients are well mixed.
Blend additional minutes. Add food coloring as desired.
Mix until creamy.
