10/24/02 NEW ARRIVAL
Tanner Allen Tangen arrived in the Lloyd and Amber Tangen family at 4:21 pm today. He tipped the scales at 9 lb. 4 oz., squeezed under the wire at 22 1/4 inches. Congratulations!
10/30/02 A PARODY
Click here to read a neat little parody written by Jason Graham concerning his wife Brita and an encrusted Cherrio.
8/11/02 HANDCART LINK
I've added a new "LDS" section on the "LINKS" webpage of our site. There are some links on handcart trekking and on the Willie and Martin Handcart Companies. Russell just returned from a 3-day youth conference handcart trek at Martins Cove, Wyo. It was probably as close to the handcart pioneer experience as can be had in this day. They pushed and pulled their handcart 17 miles over Rocky Ridge on the third day.
8/6/02 WASHINGTON VACATION
Joan and I (John - of course) just returned from vacation/work at our house on Whidbey Island. We had Joe & family and Murray & family for week #1. We did the beach, ferried to Canada/Victoria (a picturesque city - capital of British Columbia), visited a WWII shore gun battery emplacement, cooked crab, sight-saw, spent money. Then for week #2 Joan and I worked on the house.
If you don't know, we are buying a house with our good friends Dick and Pat on Whidbey Island (Washington state). For now we will just vacation at the house. Maybe someday we will semi-move there. Click here to see the house. And click here to see the view from the front window.
7/18/02 TATE OPERATION
Two days ago Tate (Tommy and Megan) was operated on for craniosynotosis. This is a condition where the soft opening in the skull is not large enough--the cranium has already fused together. So they separated his cranium across the top. It sounds very extensive, but they don't go through the dura--the brain covering. He does have a huge incision--ear-to-ear. But at that age (Tate--3 months) they recover so quickly. Tate is cooing, smiling, and eating as normal. He had the same neurosurgeon (Marion Walker) that Matt has had for the past three operations (on the cyst/bypass in his skull). Modern medicine and dedicated doctors and nurses are such a blessing.
5/10/02 GRADUATIONS
Today was a great graduation day! Tara Brodersen received her Bachelors degree in Architecture from the University of Utah. Russell Triplett received his Associate degree in Architecture from Salt Lake Community College. Congratulations and best wishes, you two! John and Chris Brodersen made the long trip to be here. We all enjoyed seeing them.
4/19/02 BABY TATE
Tate Simon Triplett debuted in the Tommy and Megan Triplett family Thursday evening (April 18). 7 lbs 15 oz, 19 inches, lots of dark hair, good-looking. Came by C-section. Mom and tot doing well. Click here to see Tate.
