Weston's T-37 (the "Tweet")

From Weston, 7-18-00
My time as a Tweet instructor is almost over. I have really enjoyed this assignment. I have been a check pilot for about 7 months now and doing all the additional duties that check pilots do. So that means a ton of non flying duties.

I am starting F16 training at Luke AFB on January 3 2001. We are real excited about that. I felt very fortunate to get that assignment. I turned out that I could have gone to fly the F-15C, F-15E or F-16 and I chose the F-16. I will go to Randolph AFB on october to do IFF (introduction to fighter fundamentals) for 7 weeks in the AT-38. So all that is fun and we have a lot to look forward to. We hope to go to Italy or Germany flying the F-16 once we are done at Luke.

I am flying a Tweet to Edwards AFB in august for 10 days to support the test pilot school. They want to take the test engineers in training up in a T-37 and spin them and the like. So I will be the one doing that and it will be a good time. I plan on stopping in Phoenix on the way home for a day and look for a place to live.

Okay, enough about work. Wendee and Kylee are doing well. Wendee is looking forward to moving to Arizona because she will be closer to home. I like the car care part of the site. I have been replacing the head gasket on wendee's car for the past month. (it shouldnt take so long but my time is limited) Anyway, it has been very fun to get all greasy and do mechanic work. It has been a great excuse to buy a bunch of tools anyway.

I've got some neat T-37 pictures that I keep telling myself that I will send to you. I just need to get them sent. I think you would like them. You know, they are in the process of retiring the tweet. It is being replaced by a turbo prop tandem seat trainer with all the latest bells and whistles. The 1st squadron of the T-6 Texan II stands up at Moody AFB GA this spring. So the legacy of the Tweet will end here at Vance in about 3 or 4 years. Its been fun to fly a bit of history.
